Are you looking for a simple but adorable way to spruce up your house for Valentine's Day? I am in love with this craft - my house will probably have paper garlands draped everywhere!
My sister over at The Life of Jennifer Dawn has a special knack for garlands! Make sure to check out some of hers.
Supplies:
3" heart punch (or any shape / size)
cute paper (double-sided is best)
sewing machine
thread
Making the Garland:
1. Punch out all your hearts. It is better if the paper is double sided - just in case the hearts spin around when you hang the garland.
2. Lay out your pattern - it will be easier when you are sewing if your pieces are already lined up.
3. Adjust your sewing machine - you want a longer stitch and to turn down the presser foot pressure. {Remember that sewing with paper will dull your needle - so you'll want to set this needle aside specifically for paper.}
Pull the thread out to leave a tail before sewing the first heart. Begin stitching right through the paper cut out -- no backstitch needed! Make about 6-8 stitches in between each heart. Continue sewing until your garland is the desired length. Leave a tail of thread at the end for hanging.
4. Hang your garland!
Didn't I tell you these were easy? You'll be addicted!
I also made a moustache garland! They just make me smile.
This is such a cute idea! I have a ton of scrapbook paper that could be used up in a project life this garland.
